This Years Long Service Awards Recipients

The County would like to take this opportunity to Congratulate this years recipients of Long Service Awards. The County could not provide such excellent service to its ratepayers withou the hard work and dedication of its long time employees.

This years recipients from left to right are:

Stewart Payne – 9 Years of Service, Cyril Matthews – 20 Years of Service, Gerald Stromsmoe – 40 Years of Service, Mark Hougen – 15 Years of Service, Stan Dyck – 30 Years of Service, and Sandra Miller – 9 Years of Service. Missing from the photo are Miles Beacome – 30 Yeras of Service and John Krooshoop – Retiring with 9 Years of Service or more.

40 Mile Park Plan

The County of Forty Mile has employed Scheffer Andrew ltd. of Medicine Hat to create a long term plan for future development of the Park. This plan was initiated in June 2010 with a public meeting to gather input. The 40 Mile Park Management Committee has now developed a drawing and is seeking more public input before final approval of the Plan. Please review the drawings below and if you have any comments please provide them to 40milepark@fortymile.ab.ca.

The existing boat launch will be expanded this upcoming season. The current boat launch will remain but will double in size; additional parking may also be developed depending on funds and time frames. More information will be provided once engineering and tendering of work has been completed.

Notice: Irrigation Water on Roads

Water from end guns shooting on or across County roads is NOT ALLOWED. This is a very serious safety concern and the person responsible could be held liable if an accident were to occur.

Notice: Placement of Haystacks & Granaries

The placement of haystacks and portable granaries does not require a development permit, but must meet the following setbacks as specified in the Land Use By-Law:

40 metres (130 feet) from the centre line of any public roadway that is not a secondary road on primary highway.
40 metres from the right of way of a primary highway.
60 metres (200 feet) from the centre line of a secondary road.
