  • Can I request dust control?

    • Dust control measures on a graveled public road will be provided to a maximum of 200 metres per residence on a cost-share basis. For lengths greater than 200 metres, the ratepayer / resident shall be responsible for 100 per cent of the cost of the dust suppressant product, other materials, labour and equipment.
    • Requests for dust control along with a signed agreement must be received from the affected ratepayer by May 1st, of the current year. These forms are available at 40mile.ca. The date for the application of the material will be determined at the sole discretion of the County and will be at such time as material is available and can be applied.
    • Dust abatement may be provided to residents who are adversely affected by a County gravel haul. The County will supply and apply at no charge up to 200 meters of the most appropriate form of dust control if the County’s Municipal Supervisor and Division Councillor agree that the resident is adversely affected.
    • County only guarantees the life expectancy of the material for the current season and any future repairs will be billed out as per the County’s Dust Control Policy.
  • When will my road be snow plowed?

    • Snowplowing operations will occur at the conclusion of a storm event or sooner if snow accumulations reach 10-15 cm on the roadway, or if drifting conditions prevail.
    • During extreme weather events if conditions become unsafe for the operators and the motoring public, snowplowing operations will halt until weather conditions improve.
    • The order in which roads will be plowed are as follows:
    1. Oiled Roads
    2. Bus Routes
    3. Arterial Local Roads
    4. Collector Local Roads
    5. Hamlets
    6. Community Facilities
    • As part of regular snow plowing operations, plows will inevitably leave windrows across approaches into private properties. Although operators will try to minimize the size of windrows whenever possible, however, windrows will ultimately be the responsibility of the landowner
    • The County of Forty Mile will provide snowplowing services to landowners that require a prairie trail on a road allowance to be plowed in order to access feed and grain bins, etc. The snow plowing service will be provided the first time at no charge and thereafter a flat rate of $100.00 per hour will be charged per request. The County will not be held responsible for any damage or loss caused while snow plowing or lane grading as requested by the resident. All residents requesting snow plowing or lane grading services must sign the agreement
    • The County will only plow driveways as County operations permit

  • When are you sanding the roads?

    • Sanding of oiled roads and hamlets will be sanded on an emergency basis. The priority will be coulees, intersections and speed curves only unless otherwise directed by the Immediate Supervisor
