Effective 8:00 a. m. Monday, March 3, 2025, the County of Forty Mile No. 8, Foremost, Alberta places a 75% Road Weight Allowance on all gravel roads, within the County under County Control. This ban excludes Nemiscam Road (RR103) between Highway No. 3 and Highway No. 61, and Range Road 102 between Highway No. 61 and Highway 501 and includes the oiled road on Range Road 121 south of Burdett. The spruce beetle (Dendroctonus rufipennis) is a bark beetle species native to North America. Host trees include mostly white spruce, but also Colorado Blue and Norway spruce. Known for its devastating impact on large boreal spruce forests, this beetle has recently gain attention due to infestation occurring in towns, summer villages, woodlots, shelterbelts, and windbreaks.
If you have evergreen trees, you need to know about Cytospora Canker, a pervasive and damaging disease, primarily caused by the fungus Cytospora kunzei .
